Dear Colleagues,
As in previous odd-numbered years, we are hosting a Workshop on nuclear structure at Yale University during the week before the Gordon Conference on Nuclear Chemistry in New Hampshire. The deadline is approaching fast, so please register!
The goal of the Yale Workshop is the exchange of ideas and new developments in nuclear structure physics, especially in university-based laboratories. The Workshop will focus on topics complementary to the agenda of the Gordon Conference, and speakers at the Yale workshop may not, in accordance with the rules of the Gordon Conference, talk on the same topic as they do at the Gordon.
This year, there will be several changes to the program due to the proponed date of the Gordon Conference (early June instead of late June) and the concurrent Yale Alumni weekend. We will host the workshop entirely off campus, a few minutes outside of New Haven at the Holiday Inn in North Haven. The hotel features its own conference facilities, restaurant and bar, free high speed internet in guest rooms/wireless internet in meeting rooms, swimming pool, and is located near several points of local interest.
We will start the Workshop on Thursday morning, May 31, 2007, and end in the early afternoon on Saturday, June 2, 2007. Unfortunately, this year the workshop parallels the INPC 2007 Conference in Japan, but we still hope for as much participation as possible.
The web-based registration is open through early next week at: June 2007 Workshop
Important deadlines:
Registration and Hotel Reservation at the Holiday Inn (see further below): **** May 1, 2007 ****
New Information:
Payment:
The registration fee is $125, which can be paid when you arrive at the Workshop by cash or check (made payable to Yale University), or by credit card in advance (see below). Registration includes the conference, lunches, and coffee breaks on Thursday and Friday, and coffee break on Saturday morning. Internet access is provided by the Holiday Inn.
For those who register(ed) and would like to pay the registration fee by credit card, please send us your credit card details by fax (+1-203-432-3522), phone (+1-203-432-3091) or by email (reply to this address), including credit card number, name as it appears on the card, billing address, and expiration date. Your card will not be charged until the week of the workshop and a receipt will be waiting for you at the registration desk when you arrive. You can still pay by cash or check in person.
Title submission:
If you would like to present a talk and have not yet submitted a title, you can still do so via the registration page, or by responding to this email address until May 1, 2007.
Travel information can be found on the Workshop website: Yale Workshop
On Friday evening, June 1, 2007, we will hold a reception at WNSL with pizza and refreshments, and offer a tour of the laboratory. Bus transportation from the hotel to WNSL and back will be provided and is also included in the registration cost.
Accommodations are NOT included in the registration fee. The cost per night is $102 plus tax (single or double). Please make your own arrangements as soon as possible, keeping in mind that our Workshop weekend coincides with Yale's Alumni weekend and rooms in the area are very sparse. We have a small block of rooms there that will be available until May 1. You will have to either call the hotel directly and ask for the Yale Physics group rate at 1-877-404-6835 (US or Canada) or email them at northhavenagm@wnwhospitality.com and do the same. For more information about the venue, please go to: http://www.hinorthhaven.com/. Please do not register online as you will not be guaranteed the lower rate.
Transportation to the Gordon Conference:
For those participants who will be attending the Gordon Conference following the Yale Workshop, we will once again provide transportation at no additional cost to you. However, we must know ahead of time whether you need this transportation, and if so, if you'll need it one-way or round-trip. Please check the appropriate boxes on the Yale Workshop registration page.
For directions to the Holiday Inn or to WNSL, please visit the Workshop website at: Directions to Holiday Inn
We are looking forward to meeting you here in late May and are looking forward to a successful workshop!
With best regards,
Volker Werner, Andreas Heinz, and Rick Casten
