Dear Colleague,
As in previous odd-numbered years, we are planning to host a workshop on nuclear structure at Yale University during the week before the Gordon Conference on Nuclear Chemistry. The goal of the workshop is the exchange of ideas and new developments in nuclear structure physics, especially in university-based laboratories.
We hope to keep the meeting as informal as possible and to maximize the exchange of ideas in open discussions.
Tentatively we plan to start the workshop the evening of Wednesday, May 30, 2007 with a reception. Depending on attendance, though, this might shift. The workshop will end in the early afternoon of Saturday, June 2, 2007. Unfortunately, this year the workshop will be in parallel with the INPC 2007 Conference in Japan, but we still hope for as much participation as possible.
Depending on interest, we will again try to provide transportation to the Gordon Conference on Sunday, June 3, 2007 for a limited number of attendees. In addition, we will also try to help organize less formal carpools.
The workshop will focus on topics complementary to the agenda of the Gordon Conference, and speakers at the Yale workshop may not, in accordance with the rules of the Gordon Conference, talk on the same topic as they do at the Gordon.
An announcement with a link to a workshop web page and on line registration will follow soon in early January.
On behalf of all of us,
Volker Werner
